The Revenant Review

What is happening recently in American Cinema and the Western? Tarantino brought out Django and The Hateful Eight, creating a glossy, stylized, vicious look at the Western, reminding us we truly do live in a better time. Both nothing speaks more to the American and human spirit than the Western, pitting man against the elements in a land that doesn't love him, and people who just don't give a damn. Then again a lot of these people can't get a damn break. Enter in visionary and hot handed director Alejandro G. Inarritu with his take on the Western, a tale about a fur trader named Hugh Glass. Needless to say, this movie is STUPID EPIC. STUPID. Now I may not be the greatest authority on movies or the snobbiest of snobs, but the opening 20 minutes to this movie might be the best opening sequence to a movie since the opening of Saving Private Ryan.  I'm not speechless very often, but this was one of those moments.
